Bleaching my hair was a blast—until I saw the damage. My hair transitioned from soft to dry, brittle, and lifeless very quickly. I realized then that it was time to take action if I wanted to repair my hair. After weeks of trial and error, I finally developed a routine to resurrect my dead hair.
Step 1: Gentle Shampoo & Hydrating Conditioner
I opted for a sulfate-free shampoo (that I now completely love) and a thick conditioning formula. As a result, I found that I had less dryness and was able to retain as much moisture as I had left.
Step 2: Weekly Hair Masks
I became best friends with deep conditioning. After washing my hair, I used a protein-rich hair mask weekly to help with strength while also using a moisture hair mask in the middle of the week to help with moisture, softness, and shine.
Step 3: Leave-In Conditioner with Argan Oil
After each wash I would apply a leave-in conditioner to help me with preventing frizz and breakage. I finished off with a couple drops of argan oil at the ends of my hair.
Step 4: No Heat Styling
During the 30-day period, I completely avoided blow drying, using a straightener, and/or curling my hair. On those rare occasions when I had to use heat, I always applied a heat protectant spray first.
Step 5: Salon Treatments
The real change happened when I went to a Professional Hair Treatment salon in Littleton. They performed a repair treatment customized for my hair type, and I could tell the difference immediately! My hair felt much stronger, looked shinier, and breakage was significantly reduced.
Hair recovery does take time and is not going to happen overnight, but with the help of products, patience, and some professional treatments, it is absolutely achievable. If you are dealing with bleach damage, start incorporating nourishing products into your hair care routine at home first, but don't hesitate to seek professional help or advice when you need it. After everything you put your hair through, it deserves your best care.
